The Safety Futures ASPP program offers professional training to build 5 core capabilities and 20 skills critical to being an effective safety professional.
Over the program, participants develop the capability to:
- Create influence by honing their skills in building relationships, humble inquiry, coaching and having difficult conversations. As safety professionals typically don't make the decisions in organisations that most impact safety, they must be able to effectively influence the decision-makers to listen and act on their advice.
- Manage risk by developing their skills in risk psychology, risk assessment, risk reduction and control effectiveness. Safety professionals must be able to understand and foresee risks in their organisation and get something done about them.
- Manage work by embedding repeatable business processes to institutionalise the management of work and safety by developing skills in management systems, prescribing work, identifying and reducing safety clutter and assurance.
- Lead change to facilitate organisational improvement by developing their skills in change management, diagnosing opportunities, building strategy and evaluating improvement.
- Facilitate learning by developing skills in understanding work, incident investigation, learning teams and measure performance.
